Keynote Speaker Session 2 – Women Leading the Icelandic Banking Turnaround – How Feminine Values Bring about Change - Halla Tomasdottir and Kristin Petursdottir
Audur Capital is a financial services provider, unlike any other you may know. The company is founded by women with a vision to incorporate feminine values into the world of finance. They are on a mission to unlock and create new value with a more balanced set of values.
Halla and Kristin believe that organizations that want to be around in 10 years time will have to conduct business in a more sustainable manner than what we have seen in the last 10 years. It is simply not enough to measure a corporate performance and success by financial returns alone. “We can’t continue to take out profits in our lifetime at the expense of our future generation.
Hence, we must take a more balanced and sustainable approach to conducting business and consider the needs and wants of all stakeholders. It is no longer an option for companies to only care for the shareholders, We must take a more long term view and take responsibility for the world we live in as well as all of its stakeholders”. At Audur, they simply reject the view that it is either about financial returns or social benefit. They think it is simply good business to do good business.
We are really excited to have Halla or Kristin join us. They are hugely inspirational and powerful women.

How I made my first million – Deirdre Bounds – Self Made Millionaire
Deirdre Bounds will be joining us for our panel debate but she will lead this section with an overview of how she made her first million. In her own words “I suppose what makes my story truly remarkable is that I’m an entrepreneur in the purest sense: no commercial experience, no family history of enterprise and no money…just a great idea, a pile of passion, masses of mistakes and a sense of humour!
When I created my ethical travel company, I used my own experiences as a stand up comedienne, a drop out and a wayward backpacker. At every turn, I challenged traditional ideas in the travel industry and dared to be different. I’ve had spectacular failures and impressive victories but trust me, there is no magic formula and the truth is, you too can do this too, if you really want to, and I’ll happily share with you how I did it”.
